Slynk‘s magic fingers bring a unique Bass Bravado to Fort Knox Five‘s Ready Go Feat. Raashan Ahmad with a remix that is already climbing the Top 10 Beatport Chart!
The idea of a collaboration started at this year’s Shambhala Music Festival when Slynk & Steve (1/5 of FK5) were adventuring on the playground listening to new jams off of Steve’s phone and in the words of Slynk:
when a track sounds good coming out of the speaker of a phone, you know it’s gunna be even better on some real speakers haha!

But let’s go in order.
First the awesome DC collective FK5 releases READY GO – an original funk tune featuring Raashan’s distinctive vocals:
Raashan Ahmad’s high-energy party rocking lyrics are the perfect match for Fort Knox Five’s distinctive funk stylings. The lyric “I live for the funk, I die for the funk, from the days of the Humpty Hump to the future” sums up this tune perfectly as it blends retro g-funk vibes from the West Coast with electronic dancefloor funk from the Nation’s Capital. True to form, Fort Knox Five incorporate horns and funky guitar lines throughout, so that “Ready Go” emerges as a disco-funk dance floor jam.
The tune was first released as a FREE DOWNLOAD for all the Funk & Music lovers all over the globe to be then handed over to two of FK5’s favorite Vancouver-based producers (Slynk and Neighbour) to remix the track as an official release on Beatport.
The Final result is a little bit of dance floor funk magic and plenty of pleasure for your ears!
BIG UPS to Fort Knox Five, Slynk & Neighbour for a sweet tune that will keep us funking over the cold winter months!
