With a sun filled summer to follow us in our musical adventures, life has been busy here at the Danio HQ and we happily chose the sweet festival vibes over life in the office.
Time has now come to buckle up once again in preparation of a new season that is shaping up to be full of exciting opportunities thanks to the inspiration and the connections this summer season offered, but before we take a step further, let’s take one back:
Here is a look back at all the juicy goodness that kept us good company in the last two months: liquid sunshine for your ears with the Danio artists!
Our monthly look back starts with Slynk whose hard work and talent found a comfortable home in Vancouver B.C., and after close to a year of him moving to Canada, Slynk achievements simply speak for themselves.
The legendary Mark Farina includes “Slynk vs Ed Solo – I Wish” in his new mixtape.
As brilliant as expected, and such a pleasure to see his track featured by an artist respected and appreciated from all over the globe.
Slynk also makes an appearance on the awesome NSB Radio where he partners with long time aussie friend & fellow Funk Bandito Crazy Daylight for a 2 hours show filled with Ghettofunk, glitch hop, breaks and their customary funk bandito bravado.
It made for 2 hours of highly unproductive work over at the Danio HQ and while the link to the show is momentarily lost, we are left with this picture to capture a slice of the musical shenanigans that happened in the studio.
Slynk’s magic fingers also delivered a new funky jam with this re-visitation of the classic Deekline & Ed Solo‘s jungle tune Top Rankin .
The old funky bass treatment transforms this classic tune in a slick and funky midtempo Jam inspired by summer and infused with the sweet island vibes that taste like cold strawberry margaritas on a beach.
And if that was not enough Slynk, The Funk Hunters, Savant, CMC & Silentia, Cheshire and many more came together with plenty of talent and big hearts for Bass for Autism Vol. 2!
“Bass for Autism” is an organization dedicated to supporting autism research through the power of music: when asked to bring his usual Bass Bravado to this awesome cause, Slynk smiled, put a pot of coffee on and got to work.
The result is this Funky original tune, filled with clever instrumentation, sexy vocals, and that customary perfect balance of Old Funk and Nu-Funk that makes Slynk’s music so damn contagiously fun.
The end of BOMBASTIC JAM & Free Downloads
Some of you might have read, not without a little sadness, about the end of Bombastic Jam, the infamous label headed by the mighty Basement Freaks.
A true labour of love, over the years Bombastic Jam has brought together artists from all over the world with quality releases, unique collaborations and a keen ear for the freshest sounds in the business. From dance floor fillers to hammock chillers Bombastic Jam has proudly and consistently delivered entertainment to your ears.
On the plus side, many of the Bombastic Musical gems will be now re-released (possibly as free downloads?)
Slynk starts it off with this remix of the classic “Loopback Borthers” – a slice of silly side slapping funk featuring Timothy Wisdom and Basement Freaks himself.
This sweet Ghetto Chill is now available as a free download!
So before you do anything else, head over the Basement Freaks HQ and his Facebook page and get in the loop with all the great tunes that are waiting to make their way to your ears.
It is exciting times for Giorgi of Basement Freaks. The end of Bombastic also means more studio time for the talented producer in preparation of a fall and winter tour that will take him around the globe in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada!
Check out this sweet jam he recently did during his last visit in Novi Sad with local artists Ivan Blanusa (Sax) & Sphira (Mc) !
The Canadian diabolical duo has been on a bit of a hiatus thanks to the birth of DJ Soo’s new baby girl!
Fear not, they are just putting the finishing touches on a new free release do delight your ears!
While you wait, enjoy the sweet summer vibes of the third and fourth installment of the Chopping Block Podcast with DJ WOOD!
Blending huge slabs of Glitchy Bass over phat, chunky beats, Sky High has been steadily climbing the Beatport charts!
The Summer Music Festival Season has been monopolizing, as expected, the attention of many.
The dust has finally settled from the many festivals our artists had the pleasure to share their passion at.
Nothing but true words of awesomeness have been used to describe the 15th Motion Notion Festival: a gathering that held true to its spirit of community and interaction, based on music and art, to offer a full spectrum of human experiences and to deliver another magical year of music.
We celebrated the beginning of August among friends and with a few musical treats to continue our summer vibes celebration at BASS COAST Festival!
During last years set at Bass Coast, Mr. Podsta grabbed our hands and took us on an epic musical journey filled with moody blues, upbeat wwing and beautiful Vocals (a journey he was kind enough to share with all of us for free) all skilfully mixed in that instant smile provoking way that the Beat Chef has gotten us used to over the years.
After Grass & Gospel, Folk & Frolic, and Blue & Bebop, the new installment in the BlissCoast series took us on a sonic journey refreshing the classic sounds of Mambo & Motown and the dance-floor quickly turned into a smile factory.
But it wasn’t just on Jpod to represent the Danio team at Bass Coast.
Tomas Avendano, founder of Danio Management, shared his knowledge and passion with the many aspiring artists that unite to festivals such as Bass Coast, in search of inspiration and guidance, with the first of hopefully many workshops titled TALENT MANAGEMENT – THE BUSINESS OF DOING WHAT YOU LOVE
SHAMBHALA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Then Shambhala Music Festival came along with its incredible energy unfolding many more dance-floors in bull boogie mode.
Following long time friend and partner in crime Jpod the Beat Chef in a special back to back set, the duo treated the Fractal Forest with an incredible half an hour of infamous and long awaited Stickypod Connection – just to bring things up a few dozen notches. Tyler then took over the forest with the confidence of a veteran and the humbleness of a man that loves what he does with a true passion.
