Social Media Optimization . . . - December 19, 2011 by admin

Social Media Optimization (SMO) ?

One of my main objectives as an artist manager is to provide a platform for my artists in which they can continue to do what they do and allow what their passion has created to flow out into the world. Social Media, be it Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Soundcloud, Tumblr plays a vital role in spreading the word.

Self-promotion by Artists who may not yet have the support of a manager can be an overwhelming and time consuming task that requires planning, strategy, and DOING.

Here’s some tips of what I’ve been doing.

1 . Be aware of what is out there.
2. Find out who is using what.
3. Learn and Understand why they’re using it.

From there you can customize and plan a strategy that suits you. The key is to JUST DO IT. If you’re serious about making your art into a way of life and werk, then take those steps.

You won’t likely get it right the first time. Learn from what you’re doing and the mistakes you’ll make – remain aware that it doesn’t have to be perfect and accept it’s an evolution of your journey.

The statistics involved in your social media network are looked upon by promoters and buyers when deciding if they’re going to book you or buy your work.

I got this tweet / link that I found interesting regarding Social Media and Online Presence, check it out:

Last year while I was in Amsterdam, I talked to my old buddy Neil (Republik Management) about how I was interested in getting into artist management like himself. He gave me some great advice and had told me about this YOU TUBE video which he later sent to me. Check it out:

Social Media is a vital part of any artists plan. We live in an era where anyone has infinite opportunity to share their ideas and creation. Why not utilize this to the best of our advantage.

S L E E P . . . ? - December 3, 2011 by admin

S L E E P – all artists and peeps should be aware of getting proper rest and sleep.

for the lot of us that are night creatures, it’s a definite challenge. i’ve been searching you tube and googling for tips, and nothing that speaks directly to us. i did find this general vid – if even one of the tips helps . . . check it and try it :)

the important thing is being AWARE whether or not we’re getting enough . . .

Do DJ’s sleep? not exactly the first thing you’d think of as a DJ

are you DJ’s out there getting enough rest and sleep?

how do you make sure you get enough? got any tips?

VIDEO/BLOG: Shambhala – SLYNK, ASKILLZ, BASEMENT FREAKS - October 2, 2011 by admin

08.2011 | Shambhala – SLYNK, A-SKILLZ, BASEMENT FREAKS

One of the most memorable moments I’ll remember about Shambhala 2011 is the back to back to back killer sets from SLYNK, A-SKILLZ, and BASEMENT FREAKS .

While these three crazy talented DJ/Producers amazed the Fractal Forest with their mixing skills and musical prowess, I’m equally drawn to their down to earth and genuine kind personalities. There’s an undeniable commonality when it comes to their success. They’re “Nice” guys.

These boys have ultimately allowed their talent and skill speak for themselves. For upcoming artists and would be DJ’s, they’re not a bad list of role models.

The energy I feel when I’m around these guys is why I got into this industry. I’m excited to say that that energy does extend out of that circle.

It’s been an amazing experience thus far meeting and connecting with artists, promoters, and supporters of the scene – I’m happy to share this video of what I experienced with some pretty cool peeps on a fine Saturday night at the Fractal Forest . . .

Shake it off . . . - October 1, 2011 by admin

Hormuzd J Dadinath’s Photos

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred – Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries – Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but more from God.

You have two choices… smile and close this page,
or pass this along to someone else to share the lesson .
God bless us all!

An old school friend of mine posted the above on Facebook. It immediately made an impression on me and I had to share it.

We can learn so much from this SOL donkey! Success is about being able to shake off challenges. It is an important life skill to be able to:

a) recognize our situations aren’t as always as bad as they seem, and
b) deal with the present situation without worrying about why you are in that position or who and what is responsible for you being there.

Be the Donkey, you’re meant to be ;)

The Four Agreements - June 13, 2011 by admin

The Four Agreements

Whenever books and life lessons come up in discussions, I’m quick to recommend three books that have seen me thru personal tribulations and guided me to dealing with them: , The Power of Now, You Can Heal Your Life, and The Four Agreements.

This little easy read of a book changed my life. I continue to refer to it to help me stay aware and constantly grateful to practice it when tough challenges arise in my daily life.

The journey to success is filled with dealing with many personalities from all different walks of life. How we handle what is communicated to us and to ourselves plays a great part in the energy we maintain and need to fulfill our goals and intentions.

Living daily with the Four Agreements will help us be free of the distractions that can run amock in our minds.

THE FOUR AGREEMENTS:

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.
