So many unexpected curveballs and challenges, we were forced to endure. For me personally, aside from losing a career I spent 15 years building, I witnessed my wife and her family’s hearts be shattered at the loss of my father in law, and was completely cutoff from a social network and previous lifestyle that almost seems to be a past life at this point all while learning the ropes of parenting to name a few. I know many people experienced far worse and the list of struggles we’ve all had to overcome varies greatly but they are all real and relevant to our own life situations. On the other side of it, there are far greater positives that have come out of this all and as the saying goes “Struggle is strength”. I’ve come out stronger, wiser, happier and far more connected than I’ve ever been💪🏽. I’m excited to see many of my friends and family in the same boat. I was forced to evolve in so many ways, learning new skills and exploring new business ventures. Most importantly, I was able to take some much needed time off from the hustle of the industry, especially touring, to focus on my mental health, through things like therapy, self reflection, exercise, mentally and physically and many forms of education, all geared towards learning to love myself again. I’ve battled depression for large part of my adult life and it only took a global pandemic for me to act on it and make me truly realize I’ve been neglecting the most important person in my life this whole time… ME This song was written & recorded during a 14 day quarantine I did back in July and is the amalgamation of all of those struggles combined, and the essence of what I’ve learned from all those experiences in the form of a what I call a “Mental Health banger” prod. by my brotha @instabryx Super excited to get this one out and hope it can help you as much it helped me writing it.
