What a year!
We have yet to catch our breath here at the Danio HQ from 12 months filled with so much action!
The highlights for the year are endless but one piece of news has made us the most proud in these last few months: our family is growing!
We have welcomed the talent of none other than (cue trumpet sounds) Featurecast and Fort Knox Five in our roster (read the original story here & here), while our original crew has travelled the world far and wide spreading their funk loving bass lines.
The intention is do it all over again, bigger and better.

The above playlist is a quick way to look back at music from the year that was made available for FREE by these fabulous artists!
So make sure to visit their social media pages, drop a line or two in a comment, share their music with friends, give them the good old thumbs up, and tell them how much you appreciate their extreme radness – it all helps to keep them going and that really means more awesome music being delivered to your eardrums!
In no particular order, below is a list of personal favorites from this fine 2014 powered by the Danio Management Artists.
Alright! Let’s do this!
Old School funk feel meets the Nu-Funk Bass Bravado of the West Coast in a fruitful collaboration that will inevitably make your feet move and your shoulders bounce.
The collaboration between the talented Stickybuds and heavy weight funky breaks champion Featurecast (whom officially joined the family just a few months ago), dates back to a few years ago now with the harder edge wompy remix of the awesome Run for Cover.
Receiving 3-6-9 in the mail was an unexpected treat that we all secretly hoped would happen!
Listen to that saxophone floating through.
Your ears don’t lie: we are in front of two of the most talented producers in the genre.
It’s tight and well balanced, and nothing is left behind.
Keeping the funk alive in the 21st century, Stickybuds and Featurecast deliver quality music to your ears at no price and solely for your listening pleasure!
DJ LBR & Big Ali – Real Party (Slynk Remix)
What a year for the funkiest DJ on earth.
His collection of free music has grown uncontrollably over the past 12 months and to pick a favourite proved trickier than ever.
The Funk Fascination EP was a little gem that proved once again how he has funk running freely in his veins.
It’s that smile provoking combination of stomping disco flavoured bass bravado, snapping snares and salacious sounds that have made Slynk a funk favourite.
With talk of a full length album in the works, 2015 is already shaping up to be a funking good one
Slynk – Flip It Up (Feat. Timothy Wisdom)
More Slynk & more Timothy Wisdom because when the two of them come together over one dance floor, you are sure to witness a little bit of funk magic – in your ears first and then in your feet.
Clever lyrics, melodic vocals, funky hip-hop-b-boy-breaks style productions, groove armada lining by the speakers: it’s tight and groovy and you’ll catch yourself humming it on your way out.
Tim’s talent is unquestionable and despite having been a bit of a quieter year for him, it is quality that this soul and funk man is after – and quality is what he delivered.
Thanks Tim – always a pleasure to see your name in my inbox!
Basement Freaks – Can’t Stop The Rastaman Feat Cranic King
Basement Freaks has proven to be synonymous of Funk over these last few years with quality releases showcasing Giorgos’ multi-talented skills and his fine producing ear.
When he puts something out, you just can’t help but pay attention because his work is always of the highest quality!
Fort Knox Five – Ready Go feat Raashan Ahmad (Original Mix)
Fort Knox Five has been making a lot more than just a mark in the electronic music scene. Their talent, ability to make you smile, brilliant collaborations, and unquestionable passion and love for music has won the hearts of fans and peers.
It was with immense pleasure that we welcomed them to the Danio family!
Mungo Shaggy – In The Summertime (JPOD Remix)
The adjectives for this talented producer are starting to run out.
JPOD started the year re-inventing mad head hopping style legendary harmonicas & moody blues beats with a series of Blues & Bebop FREEBIES
Then summer hit, and JPOD transformed into a super hero. All about them feel-good synths and groovy baseline.
In the quest for more inspiration, he is currently travelling in Australia & New Zealand, where he will no doubt keep on sharing his wobbly bass on many more dance floors!
Wood ‘n’ Soo – Riot (Wood ‘n’ Soo Remix)
Bad boys Wood n Soo also delivered a romper stomper of a remix sure to warm up the dance floor to red hot temperature.
Adding deep jungle vibes to Damian Marley & Sean Paul‘s commanding vocals brings the energy up a few notches, and with it an unstoppable urge to move your body.
Bang! So much good music.
So many reasons to smile.
